Shannon Minnaar is a 24-year Carmel resident. Her impact through her work with several Carmel community organizations and initiatives shows a passion to work hard and get things done.
Minnaar holds God, her family, and her community as her biggest priorities, and has always led with a servant approach. She has a passion for the arts, and sits on the Board of Directors for the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, having previously served as Vice Chairman, and is committed to finding opportunities to get younger people engaged and activated in the arts. Thrilled to take her leadership and community experience to the city council as the representative for the Northeast district; she intends to keep Carmel a safe, fiscally responsible, and vibrant city and feels it is important to listen to her neighbors to gather their input.
Minnaar has served as a Commissioner for the Carmel Cable and Telecommunications Commission and has been a PTO President for Mohawk Trails Elementary School, Co-Chair of the After School Enrichment program, President of the Brookshire Ladies 18 Hole League, President of the Board for the Cool Creek North HOA, and was the creator of the Carmel United Golf Outing benefiting the CUSC scholarship fund. Minnaar graduated from the Carmel Citizens Police Academy in 2023 and completed the Hamilton County Fire Ops program in October 2023.
Minnaar and her husband David have been married 30 years, and have two adult children, Chloe and Miles who are both Carmel Clay Schools graduates. As a family they enjoy traveling, golf, and taking in many of the opportunities to enjoy the arts in the community.
