Where will the new White River Greenway pedestrian bridge at 126th be built?

According to our Carmel Clay Parks Department, currently the only pedestrian bridge planned and under construction is at the 106th Street alignment connecting Hazel Landing Park in Carmel to Heritage Park in Fishers.

This bridge is projected for completion in Fall 2025.

This bridge is projected for completion in Fall 2025. It was originally envisioned to be constructed at the 126th Street alignment, connecting Prather Park (formerly River Road Park) in Carmel to property owned by Conner Prairie on the east side of the river.

This route proved not to be economically feasible due to site topography, especially on the Fishers side. As a result, we investigated alternative locations and determined 106th Street was the best option.

Conner Prairie is interested in a pedestrian bridge connecting their existing museum to the envisioned new campus in Carmel that recently received PUD approval from the Carmel City Council. But no public dollars have been committed for this bridge. The bridge and connecting trails would have to be open to the public to justify expenditure of public funds for this northern location.
